Feel Good Friday: Lift With a Trooper event honors fallen KSP trooper Hayden Phillips

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) – Kentucky State Police troopers and community members gathered in Bowling Green Thursday for a workout event honoring fallen Trooper Hayden Phillips and supporting his family.

The “Lift With a Trooper” event brought law enforcement officers and community members together to lift weights, connect outside of work and raise support for Phillips’ family.

Detective Caleb Butler with Kentucky State Police said the gathering provided a healthy way for troopers to manage stress during a difficult time.

“This is a fellowship, and this is a release, and it’s a very healthy release of stress for us to have,” Butler said.

Butler said the event also reinforced the sense of family among KSP personnel.

Trooper Katan Parker said the event was an opportunity for troopers to build relationships with the community while spending time together off duty.

“They don’t have to do this stuff, but they want to do this stuff,” Parker said.

Parker said Phillips enjoyed going to the gym, too, making the event another way to honor his memory.

“This is another way for us to honor him. Just living daily life,” Parker said.

Parker added that events like this help community members see troopers beyond their jobs.

“We want to make sure the community knows that we’re always here for them,” Parker said. “We’re human as well.”

The event offered a chance for people to support Phillips’ family while bringing troopers and the community together through fellowship and a shared commitment to honoring his life.
