Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland cuts ribbon on Bowling Green facility

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland held a ribbon cutting event Tuesday morning for their new distribution center in Bowling Green.

The 12,000-square-foot warehouse facility, located at 182 Ambassador Drive, will better serve families in Warren County and throughout the organization’s 42-county service area as the nonprofit works to gather and distribute food to those facing food insecurity. The center will complement FAKH’s Volunteer Center and Distribution Center in Elizabethtown, strengthening its reach and resources.

Held in conjunction with the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, the event included remarks from FAKH Executive Director Charles Dennis and FAKH Board member Sergio Beltran.

“Opening this new center in Bowling Green represents a major step forward for our entire 42-county service region,” Dennis said. “This facility expands our capacity to rescue more food, reach more partners and serve more families in need. It strengthens every part of our mission.”

Across FAKH’s 42-county service area, the need remains significant: one in six individuals faces food insecurity. In Warren County alone, 21,830 residents, including 6,400 children, do not have consistent access to enough food.

To meet this need, FAKH partners with more than 200 agencies to deliver food to neighbors across the region. In fiscal year 2025, the organization distributed 20.5 million pounds of food: equivalent to 17 million meals, or enough to fill 256 standard semi-truck trailers.

Supported by a grant aimed at expanding food rescue efforts, the new facility will enhance FAKH’s work with regional retailers to reduce food waste and increase the distribution of fresh food. In fiscal year 2025, these food rescue efforts resulted in 6.2 million pounds of recovered food being redistributed to families in need.

“This distribution center is a game-changer for Warren County and our entire service region,” Beltran said. “This is an investment in the well-being of families across the region and a powerful step toward ensuring our neighbors never go hungry.”

Though the facility is now storing and distributing food, community volunteers are needed. To learn about volunteer opportunities, visit feedingamericaky.org/volunteer.
