Federal agencies warn against price gouging after recent hurricanes

Multiple federal agencies posted a warning to consumers to be on the lookout for price gougers and scammers looking to capitalize from natural disasters.
The agencies say consumers naturally face extreme stress during natural disasters, and it’s an easy time to fall prey to such schemes.
During this week’s White House briefing, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre warned of price gouging surrounding Hurricane Milton.
Jean-Pierre said, “And as the president and the vice president have said, any attempts to price gouge Americans, whether at the gas pumps, airport or hotel counter, during this storm are unacceptable.”
