Federal agencies propose a reduction in the manufacturing of controlled substances
The Department of Justice and the DEA, have proposed a reduction for controlled substances, that may be manufactured in the United States next year.
The DEA has proposed to reduce more commonly prescribed schedule 2 opioids, including Oxycodone, Hydrocodone and others. In a press release, officials say the proposal is consistent with President Trump’s prescribing plan, that seeks to cut nationwide opioid prescription fills by one third within three years. The proposal decreases the six most frequently misused opioids by an average ten percent, as compared to the 2018 amount.
According to the press release, 1,565 Kentuckians were lost last year due to these misused drugs.
