MASON COUNTY, Ky. – The search continues for an escaped inmate believed to be in Mason County.

On Monday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Louisville confirmed it is now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of 48-year-old Jerry Lee Cooper.

Cooper is wanted for escaping from the Brown County Detention Center in Georgetown, Ohio on Sept. 15.

The FBI Louisville says Cooper was being held while awaiting trial for his alleged role in a murder-for-hire. Authorities say he is considered “armed and dangerous”

On Saturday morning, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office shared an update on the search efforts to locate Cooper. Authorities say they have been out non-stop and say they are looking at “over 1,200 acres of very dense woodland.” The sheriff’s office says it is using all resources available, including partnerships with multiple other agencies.

Authorities say Cooper grew up in the area and knows the property they are searching.

Cooper is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and 135 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
