Farmers RECC says ‘restoration efforts are mostly complete’ as of Thursday afternoon

GLASGOW, Ky. – Farmers RECC provided its final outage update Thursday afternoon.
The company says restoration efforts are mostly complete, with most members who can be restored now receiving power.
As ice melts, Farmers RECC says scattered outages will happen. The company says thawing ice can damage equipment and cause lines to gallop or cause already weakened tree limbs to fall onto power lines.
Crews remain on standby and continue to respond to any new outages that arise.
Starting Sunday, Winter Storm Fern left over 6,400 members without power and 34 broken poles across the system, according to Farmers RECC.
Farmers RECC thanks its members’ support and its entire employee team, including its linemen, member service representatives, its dispatching team, its fleet, warehousing personnel, those handling daily tasks and the team who kept everyone fed and met basic needs.
The company also thanks its sister cooperatives that provided aid, including:
- Clinton County Electric Cooperative
- Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative
- Menard Electric Cooperative
- Monroe County Electric Cooperative
- Inter-County Energy
- 5 Star Electric
- Glasgow Electric Plant Board
Farmers RECC says it released Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative, Menard Electric Cooperative and Monroe County Electric Cooperatives from Illinois this morning. They now travel to Tri-County Electric Cooperative’s district office in Tompkinsville to assist them with restoration efforts.
It also thanks Townsend Tree Service and SteelRock Services, LLC for their assistance and local businesses that helped keep teams fed, along with Days Inn in Glasgow for accommodating mutual aid crews.
Finally, Farmers RECC thanks Glasgow mayor Henry Royse and Barren County judge executive Jamie Byrd for their diligence in helping clear roadways and setting up roadblocks, community members that helped and Farmers RECC families.
