Farm Credit Mid-America and the Kiwanis Club unite for Farm Day

ALVATON, KY.- Farm Credit Mid-America and the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club are teaming up to host Farm Day, a free community event celebrating and promoting the future of agriculture.

“What we’re trying to do is help the community — and really the kids of our community — understand more about agriculture and the impact it has on their everyday life,” said Rod Hutcheson, president of the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club.

The event will feature hands-on learning experiences designed to make education both fun and memorable. Children will have the opportunity to interact with farm animals, explore agricultural exhibits and learn where their food comes from.

“It’s a huge enjoyment to me to see kids interact with animals,” said Millie Westbrook, owner of Westbrook Farms Petting Zoo and Events. “Just to be able to teach them a little bit about farm animals and exotics makes me happy to see a smile on their face.”

Events like this aim to spark curiosity in children who may not otherwise experience farm life.

“Agriculture starts with education, and it starts at a young age,” said Brandon Harris, senior financial officer at Farm Credit Mid-America.

Organizers hope to blend fun with learning, helping children appreciate the vital role farmers play in their community and beyond.

Farm Day will be held Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Westbrook Farms. Families can expect a morning full of engaging and educational activities centered around Kentucky’s agricultural heritage.
