Family-owned business invests $13 million in Glasgow expansion
GLASGOW, Ky.- Span Tech LLC is expanding its location in Glasgow and investing over $13 million in the community.
This project will create 40 new jobs and will relocate the company’s conveyor system manufacturing operation from Cleveland Avenue to Hilltopper Way.
The company will renovate a 42,000-square foot building and construct a new 100,000-square foot building that will increase all facets of their corporation to meet the growth in their business.
Since Span Tech was founded in 1981, their stated goal has been to “build the very best conveyor systems we are capable of.”
“This is really big. I mean Span Tech is not a big company, they’re a small family owned business. They have about 95 employees. So $13 million is really a lot of money. So that’s going to bring some construction jobs to the area, it’s going to increase some of the wage tax that’s collected here, which is much needed in the city of Glasgow during this pandemic,” said Maureen Carpenter, executive director of the Barren County Economic Authority Maureen Carpenter.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2021. Carpenter says it’s a sign of hope for the future for the community.
