Family of seven safe after all lost in house fire

SMITHS GROVE, Ky. – A Smiths Grove family lost everything in a house fire Sunday.

Smiths Grove Police Chief Jason Franks said the fire broke out at 111 Witherspoon Street Sunday from an unknown cause. Franks said a call reporting the fire was received at 12:42 p.m. The family, including four adults and three children, are alive and safe, said Franks.

Franks said some local residents have purchased clothes for the small children in the family and he has been told Red Cross will assist.

“It’s truly heartbreaking, but to see our community come together and help is truly inspiring,” said Franks.
