Facebook post leads deputies to homicide
GLASGOW, Ky. – A Facebook post from a suicidal man claiming to have killed someone led to the man’s arrest in a homicide early Saturday morning.
David Pons, 48, posted to Facebook he killed someone late Friday night, according to his arrest citation.
When deputies responded to his 1757 Park City Glasgow Road home they saw two people inside of a car, a woman who was passed out, and in the passenger seat a man who was dead from apparent multiple gunshot wounds, according to the citation.
Pons walked out of his front door and deputies took him into custody.
Pons’ wife, Melinda Pons, said the victim, who is identified in the citation by his first name only, Chris, was living with the couple. Melinda Pons told deputies her husband said Chris had threatened Melinda Pons, according to the citation.
Melinda Pons told deputies she never heard Chris threaten anyone.
When deputies took David Pons into custody, he said he shot the man in self defense, according to his citation.
A juvenile on the scene told deputies all of the adults were drinking when David Pons and the victim began arguing, according to the citation. She was sent to her room. She told deputies after she heard gunshots she saw blood on the victim’s chest and he could not talk.
Deputies saw blood in the front yard of the home and found a shell casing between the blood and the home, according to the citation.
At the time shots were fired, the victim and Melinda Pons were leaving the home, according to the citation.
David Pons is charged with murder and was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
Deputies also arrested Melinda Pons on a charge of alcohol intoxication in a public place. She was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center and later released.
