Extremist flyer found in neighborhood over the weekend

WARREN COUNTY Ky. – A flyer purported to be from the Ku Klux Klan in Kentucky was found in the Hunting Creek Estates neighborhood and was reported to the Warren County Sheriff’s office.

The Trinity White Knights are a group that is known and tracked by the Southern Poverty Law center and they think that the act may have been done because the International Festival was going on at or around the same time, a common tactic of hate groups says SPLC Research Analyst Jeff Tischauser.

Though the KKK is not nearly as active as other white nationalist groups as they were in the past in part due to the efforts of groups like the SPLC, they are not completely gone and in their place are other less formal neo-nazi and white nationalist groups often from outside of Kentucky that make inroads into population centers. The diversity of Bowling Green and Warren County make them an attractive place for such activities.

“These groups are trying to intimidate us and scare away our neighbors. Right. For their immutable characteristics. So coming together with others who who don’t want this in your community, I think can be a very powerful way to build solidarity in this moment, as well as to try to organize a collective response.” Tischauser said.
