Extra officers watch over schools Wednesday
GLASGOW, Ky. – After a school threat was posted this week, area schools kept an extra eye out for the safety of the students on Wednesday.
Officials assured the public Tuesday that there was no information to suggest that threat made against schools in Kentucky was credible.
The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security issued a release describing a generic social media threat against schools in Kentucky and Arkansas.
Officials regarded the threat as unsubstantiated, but law enforcement and school resource officers were on high alert Wednesday in the region.
Area schools had extra law enforcement presence as well as many districts notifying their teachers and parents of the threat.
Officials say, safety precautions are in place in schools during school hours to protect the students and that all threats are taken seriously.
