Expo showcases energy efficiency
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Building and Science Expo held Tuesday at the Sloan Convention Center promotes energy-efficient technology through the education of building science principles.
The Tennessee Valley Authority sponsored the expo for industry experts. The conference also provided continuing education and updates on building codes, tax credits and financial objectives, and how these innovations benefit the professions of builders. Executive officer of the Building Industry Association of Central Kentucky Todd Johnson said he’s excited to bring in professionals to the event. “The fact that we’re able to bring experts in the field from national organizations and areas of research together here in Kentucky and bring folks in from all over the area to talk about the newest innovations in building science and energy efficiency and housing” is what makes Johnson proud to be part of the event. The topic of energy-efficient technology is important for many reasons, and Tennessee Valley Authority energy rights solutions senior manager Frank Rapley, explained that this is especially important for low-income families. “We’re very involved with weatherization assistance programs, which provide weatherization services for low income families who may not be able to afford to upgrade their home. Many of the people here work in that area and do that type of work,” Rapley said. Not only is the convention important for the low-income families, but also the professionals who work in the industry. “Being able to meet all the great people here in the state of Kentucky and many from Tennessee as well who are working in this field and being able to share ideas and share information, we’ve got a lot of experts here in their fields doing fantastic presentations all day long. People are getting continuing education credits for that as well, so it’s a really exciting time,” Rapley said. |
