Expect road delays in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Just off of Scottsville Road, the intersection at Ken Bale Boulevard and Nell O’Bryan Court got a long-awaited traffic signal June 16.

Discussion for a signal here began in 2014 when Cabela’s was in the planning process.

Bowling Green’s Department of Public Works knew future traffic would affect the intersection eventually, so a traffic study was conducted seven years ago. The results proved that yes indeed, the then-new Cabela’s and as well as the up-and-coming Texas Road House would require a traffic light, eventually.

City engineer Melissa Cansler said they will also construct Shive Lane to continue the road to Lovers Lane. This construction will also further increase traffic on this route.

Cansler said safety is top priority for Bowling Green’s residents and visitors.

“Anything that the city, new developers, KYTC, we all work together to make sure roadways are safe. Bowling Green is a very growing community. People come in from all over, regionally. So, we want to make sure our roads are safe for each and everyone of them,” said Cansler

Highland Way will also begin construction next Monday from Smallhouse Road to Westen Street.

Highland Way will have one lane closed beginning Monday, June 14 from Smallhouse Road to Westen Street for approximately two weeks for sidewalk construction from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
