Ethics complaint filed against BG Ethics Board chairman
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -An anonymous ethics complaint has been filed against the City of Bowling Green Board of Ethics Chairman Barry Pruitt.
These complaints are not considered open records until they have been presented to the board of ethics. WNKY received a copy of the anonymous complaint in the mail. City spokeswoman Ashley Jackson confirmed the city received the complaint.
The complaint stems from a series of retweets that have been shared from an unverified Twitter profile under the name of Barry Pruitt 191.
The complaint reads that there have been a steady stream of partisan posts from that Twitter account and calls into question Pruitt’s objectivity as the Ethics Board chairman.
“I do not believe Mr. Pruitt’s conduct to be such to preserve the public confidence or to live into the high ideal of impartiality,” reads a sentence from the complaint.
All of the partisan tweets included in the complaint are retweets, meaning they were shared by the Barry Pruitt 191 profile but not directly written by the account holder.
Pruitt said he is unable to comment on an ethics complaint until it has reached the board for discussion.
Jackson said that there are a number of issues that will be addressed at a special called city Board of Ethics meeting next week.
