Escaped inmates allegedly carjack vehicle, flee police through 4 KY counties

CROFTON, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a carjacking incident in Crofton.
According to KSP Post 2, a possible carjacking and assault happened at the Family Dollar/Dollar Tree located at 230 South Madisonville Street on Sunday.
Christian County Dispatch told KSP that the incident may have involved two escaped inmates from the Christian County Detention Center. The escapees walked away from the work detail, according to KSP Post 2.
KSP Post 2 troopers located the vehicle on Western Kentucky Parkway and attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the 60 mile-marker.
Troopers say the driver refused to stop and fled north at a high rate of speed.
KSP Post 2 troopers say the pursuit continued through Muhlenberg, Ohio, and Grayson counties, where the vehicle stopped near the 108 mile-marker.
The driver is identified as 30-year-old Elijah Boodoosignh, of Hopkinsville, who escaped the Christian County Detention Center.
Boodoosignh is charged with fleeing or evading police, 1st degree in a motor vehicle; speeding 26 mph or greater on a limited access road; reckless driving; wanton endangerment 1st degree; fleeing or evading police 2nd degree; resisting arrest; possession of marijuana; possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle; license to be in possession; and escape 2nd degree.
His passenger, 39-year-old James Stull, of Covington, was also an escapee. He is charged with escape 2nd degree.
31-year-old Caitlyn Burchett, of Louisville, was also an occupant of the vehicle. She was not charged.
KSP Post 2 says Boodoosignh was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center and Stull was transported back to the Christian County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
