English, Lucas, Priest & Owsley, LLP announces J.A. Sowell as new partner

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – English, Lucas, Priest & Owsley, LLP announced Monday that attorney J.A. Sowell has been named a partner of the firm, effective January 1, 2026.
According to a release by ELPO Law, Sowell joined ELPO Law in August 2017 and has become “a vital member of the firm’s litigation and personal injury teams.”
ELPO Law says Sowell focuses on defense litigation for municipalities across Kentucky, representing counties, sheriff’s departments and jails.
In addition, the release states Sowell handles electric utility defense, landlord-tenant disputes, collections and personal injury cases.
A Bowling Green native, Sowell earned an undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University before later graduating from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, the release states.
Sowell currently serves on the advisory board for the Salvation Army and is a member of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals.
According to the release, Sowell’s “professional excellence has been consistently recognized by his peers,” being named to the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® list since 2021 for his work in Corporate Law and Personal Injury Litigation (both Plaintiffs and Defendants).
The release additionally states Sowell maintains active memberships in the American, Kentucky and Bowling Green-Warren County Bar Associations, as well as the Kentucky Justice Association and the Defense Research Institute.
