Empty Bowls event helps feed the hungry

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Tuesday night, the Sloan Convention Center was filled with art, food and people with a purpose. The 8th annual Empty Bowls event was held to help alleviate hunger in the community.

For $15 event goers could select a bowl hand-made by locals citizens-to keep and take home. Attendees also received a bowl of soup, a drink and dessert in return. The food was donated by local restaurants, and the money raised was donated to local charities that supply food to the needy.

Garry Taylor, an organizer with the event, said it was heartwarming to see all the people who attend the event as well as the bowls that have been hand-crafted and the people serving the food.
