Elon Musk proposes big Twitter changes; local businesses await marketing potential
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Elon Musk has owned Twitter only one week, but he’s already working on some big changes to the 16-year-old social media site.
The multi-billionaire plans to charge users $8 per month to receive a blue verification check mark on their profiles.
Musk has also announced many permabanned users, such as Donald Trump, will be welcomed back in the future.
The new CEO has also advocated for Twitter to loosen its “free speech” policies.
Many local businesses are anxious to see if Twitter will become more marketing friendly.
Bowling Green Marketing Agency Chief Marketing Officer Richy R. said, “Twitter, really out of all the social media platforms, it’s always been kind of at the bottom, right? It’s limited on its features. For marketers and small business owners, we hope that it can become more of a viable platform for small businesses and medium-sized businesses to reach their target audiences.”
Richie R. says currently, Twitter’s features like limited character count and lack of targeted advertising deter small and medium-sized businesses from using the app… but only time will tell if that will change.
