Electric vehicle battery company makes $2 billion investment in community

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Envision AESC, the world-leading Japanese electric vehicle battery technology company is coming to Bowling Green.

“This project is going to create 2,000 great jobs for future residents of Warren County and the region,” said Governor Andy Beshear.

Beshear announced that the tech company is building a state of the art 3 million square foot Gigafactory in the Kentucky Transpark, investing $2 billion.

It’s the second largest project in the state of Kentucky. The 500 acre plant will take up nearly half of the 1200 acre transpark.

“This community was ready as a result of the work that was done over the years to develop the Transpark, which is near an interstate. What I’ve noticed with Mike Buchanon and the series of mayors we’ve had over the years is you [Warren County] are always ready, looking to the future and ready to take advantage of whatever opportunities come along,” said Senator Mitch McConnell.

The plant will make Kentucky the top producer of electric vehicle batteries.

“Obviously when you’re going to make a capital investment of this magnitude and you need this many employees you need to be really sure that the city that you’re choosing is ready to accept that challenge and they are super excited in Bowling Green and Warren County and we are ready to rise to the occasion,” said Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce COO Meredith Rozanski.

The demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, and this location will help fill that supply.

“It is the business that will take us into a new era. Our future will be surrounded by what happens on this project,” said Warren County Judge-Executive Mike Buchanon.
