Edwards powers Hot Rods to 8th straight victory in 5-4 win vs. Rome
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – John Doxakis allowed one run over 4.0 innings and Evan Edwards jacked a go-ahead two-run homer to give the Bowling Green Hot Rods a 5-4 win and their season-high eighth consecutive victory.
The visiting Rome Braves got off to a strong start, scoring three times in the top of the 2nd inning to take a 3-0 lead. Bowling Green responded immediately with three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame to tie things up 3-3.
From there, the pitching staffs took over, holding their opponents at bay until Evan Edwards connected on a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 6th inning that gave Bowling Green the lead for good.
The Hot Rods will look to extend their season-long win streak to nine games on Wednesday, as they face the Braves in a matinee at Bowling Green Ballpark. First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. local time.
