UPDATE: Edmonson County Water District issues boil water advisories

EDMONSON COUNTY, Ky. – The Edmonson County Water District has issued two boil water advisories.

The district says the advisories were issued because the potential exists for bacteriological contamination due to low pressure or no pressure because of a main line leak on main pumping line.

According to a social media post by the district, affected areas include 259-N from intersection of 70 west/259-N to Vanmeter School Road, including all side roads, Highway 70 West, 187, 185, including all side roads and Highway 70 from 259-N to Wilderness Road, including all side roads.

In addition, the district stated Monday afternoon that a second advisory issued affected the areas of Highway 88 from Dogcreek bridge to Interstate 65, including all side roads, Robbin Lane, Green Acres, Dogcreek, Highway 728 from Wilderness Road to Macon Kessigner and all side roads, including Macon Kessigner Road and Highway 1827.

The advisories will remain in effect until water samples have been taken and the threat of contamination has been eliminated to the satisfaction of the Environmental Protection Agency, the district says.

You must boil your water to a full boil for at least three minutes.
