Edmonson County traffic stop leads to two drug arrests

EDMONSON COUNTY, Ky. – A Friday night traffic stop leads to two arrests in Edmonson County.

Sheriff’s deputies spotted a Mazda B-Series truck driving on Nolin Dam Road around 10 p.m. on August 27th.

According to a release, the deputy saw the car cross the yellow center line multiple times. The deputy activated his blue lights to initiate a traffic stop and the driver of the truck passed two safe pull-off locations before coming to a stop, according to the release.

The driver was identified as Andrew Hampton, 40, of Brownsville, Kentucky and the passenger was identified as Kristina Emery, 41, of Morgantown, Kentucky.

According to the release, Hampton was asked to exit the vehicle so the deputy could administer a Standardized Field Sobriety Test.

Consent to search the vehicle was given by Hampton, which resulted in the discovery of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to the release.

Neither the passenger or the driver took ownership of the drugs and paraphernalia, so both were arrested and charged with possession controlled substance first degree, first offense and buy/possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the release.

Hampton was also charged with Careless Driving.

Both were booked into the Hart County Jail. Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.
