Edmonson County mom arrested on child abandonment charges

BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a mother on three counts of abandonment of a minor, after authorities say she left her three young children home alone.

According to a news release, investigators received a complaint Monday evening from a concerned relative who suspected the woman left her toddler home alone.

A deputy responded to the home on Chalybeate School Road. Once inside, the deputy reported seeing three children under the age of 4, two of whom were asleep in cribs.

The mother, Kala Ware, 25, eventually returned home and told authorities she had left the children with a friend. Deputies say ware later admitted that she knowingly left the children home alone for roughly two hours while she traveled to Bowling Green.

Ware was arrested and charged with three counts of abandonment of a minor, a class-d felony.

The three children were unharmed and placed in the care of another family member while social services conducts an investigation.

Ware was lodged in the Hart County Jail.
