Edmonson County Fair 2023

EDMONSON COUNTY Ky. – The county fair has returned to Edmonson County with a suite of rides and vendors after nearly four years of absence from the event due to COVID and other complication.

Many people were excited to bring their family for a night of fun such as Kayla Basham who was able to bring her son to his first fair.

“I grew up in Edmonson County, and I came to the fair every year when I was a kid and so now I get to bring my son to the fair and we’ve not got to come because of COVID. So this is his first time getting to come to the fair,” Basham said.

Elsewhere, drivers readied their vehicles for the mud bog competition where those who can drive furthest through a mud lane win. Altogether, the entire event ran smoothly – this is down to a lot of work from people, like Edmonson County Lions Club Fair Board president Donnie Turley. In his yellow T-shirt, Turley drove around on an ATV, directing other volunteers and making sure everything from parking to the needs of vendors were taken care of and functioning smoothly.

“This is something that we’ve worked really hard on for the last 18 months to try and bring a carnival back to our fair. We’ve been since COVID happened. Our carnival, basically. We didn’t have much of a fair at all. We had events the last year, but it wasn’t what I would consider a fair or carnival.”
