Thieves steal from local marina clients twice
BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating six separate vehicle break-ins that occurred last weekend at a marina.
Investigators said the break-ins occurred on the property of Moutardier Marina between Friday and Sunday. A wide range of hand and power tools were stolen, as well as an air compressor and portable air conditioner.
Law enforcement and locals are reminding the public to be proactive when leaving their cars or campers alone.
According to the sheriff’s office, this is the second round of reported break-ins at the marina this summer. The first occurred in June when two pull-behind campers and over $1,000 in tools and fishing equipment were stolen.
“We had hoped that after publicizing the first round of thefts that we’d had that it would put a stop to it, and it hasn’t so obviously we have a lot more investigation that we have to do,” said Edmonson County Sheriff Shane Doyle.
The Edmonson County Sheriff said 10 people have fallen victim to the crimes and he believes they are all connected.
“A hit here and a hit there, and we are hoping that there are no more hits, but if there are, we are hoping we can make an arrest out of that,” said Doyle.
People using the marina and campground areas are hoping the thieves are caught sooner rather than later.
