Economic advisor to President Joe Biden speaks in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN Ky. – Dr. Lael Brainard the director of the National Economic Council spoke in Bowling Green to a consortium of local business owners about the state of the US economy and how certain global events can and are impacting the national economy and the bearing that might have on Kentucky.
Brainard believes the Commonwealth is ripe for investment and spoke about the potential for renewed manufacturing investment including electric vehicle production in the state and the investments the Biden Administration is making in state like Kentucky to engage their workforce.
“The reason there’s so much focus on workforce is because we’re seeing huge increases in private sector investments in manufacturing and of course construction of manufacturing facilities. So it’s really a good news story that is leading to businesses looking for skilled workers.” Brainard said.
There was also talk about the easing pain at the pump, gas prices in the are have mostly fallen below three dollars per gallon for the first time in at least two years, with fears of the high prices experience in the summer of 2022 which were mostly exacerbated by the Russo-Ukrainian war and lingering pandemic area supply chain issues.
“Gas prices matters a lot to families. And that’s particularly true going into the holidays. So, you know, we’re going to continue to encourage a set of policies to ensure that domestic production continues to be strong.” Brainard said.
