DSSKY celebrates the holidays and new mural

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Saturday, the Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky’s Buddy House held a drive through Christmas celebration.

The COVID friendly event also gave the buddies a chance to see the newly completed mural that is painted on the side of the building.

Recently, local artist, Andee Rudloff painted the outline of the artwork and the buddies were able to come help fill it in.

During the holiday celebration, families were able to drive up to see the finished product and even receive a few Christmas goodies from Santa himself.

The Assistant Director of DSSKY, Mekinsey Ford-Conway, said this has really helped  lift spirits during the complicated times of COVID-19.

“It’s been such a weird year. We usually go out with a bang and do a big Christmas party with all the families. We weren’t able to do that this year, so I think it’s really important that we were able to do something like this that they can all be a part of,” Ford-Conway said.

“They’re going to know that they were a part of this and that they added there mark to it.”

DSSKY teamed up with Arts for all Kentucky to create the mural. To check it out for yourself you can drive by the Buddy House, located on State Street in Bowling Green.
