Drug task force makes arrests after attempts to fill forged prescriptions, officials say

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Officials say several people have been arrested after an investigation into forged prescriptions being brought to local pharmacies.
The Bowling Green – Warren County Drug Task Force says the investigation into the incidents lasted several weeks.
According to drug task force officials, Dominic Escamilla, 21, of Aurora, Illinois tried to to fill a forged prescription for Phenegran with Codeine Tuesday at Sheldon’s Pharmacy on Fairview Avenue. Officials say they later made contact with Escamilla at Donato’s before he tried to flee out the door.
Officials say they then restrained Escamilla and placed him into custody.
A black Toyota SUV rental was also identified as Escamilla’s accomplice leaving the pharmacy, according to officials. After receiving contact to look for the vehicle, officials say the Simpson County Drug Task Force stopped the vehicle on Interstate 65.
Deion Lonnie Fisher, 26, of Dolton, Illinois was taken into custody and returned to the Bowling Green – Warren County Drug Task Force.
Both Fisher and Escamilla were arrested on Tuesday, July 11.
The prescription is the same patient name used when Daniel Waters, 42, of Knoxville, Tennessee attempted to fill a forged prescription on June 12 before being arrested at a pharmacy on Scottsville Road, officials say.
The drug task force says the investigation revealed a complex system of individuals from Illinois and Tennessee traveling to Kentucky to pass the forged prescriptions.
All three face charges of attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud and first-degree criminal possession of a forged prescription.
Escamilla is additionally charged with resisting arrest and third-degree criminal mischief.
Additional charges are expected.
Fisher and Escamilla remain at the Warren County Detention Center.
