Drug task force announces participation in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Local law enforcement is partnering to address public safety and public health.

The Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force announced multi-partner participation in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 26. The event will take place from 10 am to 2 pm at five sites.

The DEA, Drug Task Force, Bowling Green Police, Kentucky State Police, Smiths Grove Police, Warren County Sheriff, and WKU Police Department will partner for the event.

According to a report, more than 2,000 Kentucky residents died of drug overdoses in 2023. The majority of opioid addictions begin with prescription pills found in homes.

The initiative aims to prevent prescription drug abuse by providing a safe way to dispose of them.

The five (5) collection points in Warren County:

  • Bowling Green Police Department, 911 Kentucky Street, operated by Drug Task Force and Bowling Green Police
  • Kentucky State Police, Post 3 at 3119 Nashville Road, in Bowling Green
  • Warren County Hazardous Waste Day, 999 Lauren Avery Drive, prescription drug take back operated by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (Hours of operation 8AM until 1PM)
  • Smiths Grove City Hall, 146 South Main Street, Smiths Grove, KY, prescription drug take back operated by the Smiths Grove Police Department
  • WKU Police Department, 1906 College Hights Blvd. Bowling Green, prescription drug take back operated by the WKU Police Department
