Drive-thru event honors breast cancer survivors
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Kentucky Cancer Program is celebrating survivorship and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a drive-thru event and contest Oct. 25 at the Knicely Conference Center.
Participants will have 30 minutes to decorate their cars for breast cancer awareness. The cars will drive through the judging area to have their cars, and also masks judged.
Elizabeth Westbrook, Cancer Control Specialist at Kentucky Cancer Program, said people will remain in their cars at all times except for decorating, in order to enforce social distancing. Westbrook said she wants to make sure the survivors feel safe during the entire event.
She said why it’s so important to raise awareness.
“Women are the best at taking care of the other loved ones in their life. They do things for their family and their children and a lot of times they put their families ahead of their own health,” said Westbrook.
All participants will receive a swag bag filled with gifts and there will be first, second and third places for both mask and car categories. The event is co-sponsored by Abound Credit Union and the WKU Office of Continuing and Professional Development. For more information or to register, contact email@example.com or call 270-745-2033.
