Downtown development plans to connect Bowling Green to its roots
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The plans to continue developing the entertainment district in Bowling Green continue to move along.
With a great deal of planned development at the riverfront, it seems the idea is to continue to connect downtown to the water much like the past, says Downtown BGKY Development Coordinator Telia Butler.
“Downtown is growing toward the river like we used to be, because we used to be more of a river town when Bowling Green was founded. So it’s like we’re going back to our roots and businesses are coming back to the river and joining with the rest of downtown like it used to be,” Butler said.
With new life being breathed into areas like the historic Shake Rag District, including the revitalization of the Southern Queen Hotel, among other things, development will be ongoing for years to come.
