Downtown Bowling Green lights up for the holiday
Christmas time has officially arrived in downtown Bowling Green.
On Friday, the city got in the festive spirit by hosting the 2018 Christmas Open House during the afternoon, and Downtown Lights Up during the evening.
The open house and lighting ceremony had a wide variety of activities for people of all ages to participate in from free carriage rides, to a special reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ to a holiday photo booth.
After the open house finished, people gathered in Fountain Square as Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson and other dignitaries gave opening remarks before lighting up the square with numerous, colorful Christmas lights.
Attendees also had several entertainment options after the lighting ceremony, including a showing of “Elf” at the Venue, a playing of “A Christmas Story” at the Capitol Arts Center and of course, a visit from Santa Claus himself.
