BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Downtown BGKY has released a new parking map that includes additional privately owned pay lots.

The newly updated map includes a guide of free and paid parking in the downtown area, allowing visitors and residents to identify updated information on where to park for their downtown needs.

In addition, Downtown BGKY says a new public parking signage plan is in the works for the winter.

Bowling Green’s downtown development coordinator, Telia Butler, said the city and county do not tow vehicles – this is only done by some private lot owners. For this reason, the map can be a useful tool to avoid a potentially costly situation.

For those that require accessible parking, those parking spaces can be found within public lots, including free street parking at Fountain Square Park, as well as the Stadium Park Plaza structure on College Street.

Butler said every public lot is required to follow ADA standards for accessibility, however, older, private lots built before modern codes may not always guarantee a designated accessible spot. However, she said many private lot owners are working on updating.

Butler said all city sidewalks and pedestrian street crossings are also built to ADA standards.
