Domestic disturbance leads to arrest Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Saturday, March 5, around 12:09 p.m., the Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a shooting on Murphy Road.
According to a social media post by the WCSO, the investigation revealed that a domestic disturbance had occurred and the victim had been physically assaulted. During the altercation, the victim shot the perpetrator in self-defense before the suspect fled the scene and stole the victim’s vehicle, according to the post.
The suspect, Malik Dequan Owens, 24, sought treatment at a local hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound, where the hospital notified WCSO and deputies and detectives responded.
Once Owens was released from the hospital, he was arrested Saturday and lodged in the Warren County Detention Center. Owens was charged with strangulation, 1st degree, assault, 4th degree (domestic violence) minor injury, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and theft of a motor vehicle.
