Dishman McGinnis school represents Kentucky in 2020 National Christmas Tree display
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-Some Bowling Green holiday cheer has made it all the way to the nation’s capital.
Students from Dishman McGinnis Elementary have designed Christmas ornaments that represented the bluegrass state in the 2020 national Christmas tree display.
The ornaments went on 56 smaller trees that surround the national Christmas tree, which represents each U.S. state as part of the America Celebrates display. These designs are Kentucky specific, including sites like Mammoth Cave, and Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace.
Mary Sansom is the art teacher at Dishman McGinnis. She said she’s thrilled the students’ talents will represent Kentucky on a national scale.
Many of Sansom’s students had not studied Kentucky before this project and were thrilled to learn more about what makes the Commonwealth such a special place to live.
