LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Derby season kicked off over the weekend with the annual Derby Museum Hat Show.

Local milliners showed off some of their best pieces.

With this year being the 150th Kentucky Derby, when it comes to fashion, they say anything goes.

Every year, the Derby Museum Hat Show kicks off Derby season with a preview of the latest trends you can expect to see this year at Churchill Downs.

The show features five local milliners, who get to show off some of their favorite pieces on the runway.

After the show, attendees can meet the milliners, try on some of their designs and start planning their Derby looks.

You could see just about every color combination walking down the runway, with some hats making a literal reference to Derby 150 and the iconic symbols associated with the race, like the rose.

The 150th Run for the Roses is expected to bring in a combination of traditional styles sand new twists on the historic fashion.

Derby 150 at Churchill Downs is scheduled for Saturday, May 4.

All the action can be seen on NBC.
