Aaron Smith

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A man with several warrants is in custody after leading deputies on a vehicle pursuit.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says it made several attempts to serve three active Warren County warrants to Aaron Smith, 37 of Bowling Green, at a residence on Pintail Drive.

A deputy says two attempts were made to serve warrants to Smith at the home, in addition to several attempts by other deputies.

On Monday afternoon, the deputy observed Smith at the residence. Smith exited the home, entered a vehicle and began travel on Pintail Drive. The deputy attempted to execute a traffic stop. Smith accelerated through a stop sign onto Teal Street, reaching speeds up to 70 miles per hour. Smith then failed to stop at Mt. Everest Way and the exit of the Summit subdivision onto Dillard Road.

No other vehicles were present on the roadways until the pursuit entered Neal Howell Road. The deputy says Smith was unable to control the vehicle.

The deputy attempted to overtake Smith’s vehicle as the pursuit continued onto Elrod Road. Smith left the roadway onto a property on Elrod Road. Smith almost struck the home before crashing into a wooded area.

Smith exited his vehicle and ran into a field behind the residence. Deputies made contact with Smith and took him into custody.

The deputy says Smith admitted to driving the vehicle. Smith later said that another individual was driving the vehicle and he was the passenger. The deputy says the passenger floorboard was filled with items, making it unlikely Smith sit in the passenger seat.

Smith is charged with speeding 26 miles per hour or > speed limit, reckless driving, disregarding a stop sign, fleeing or evading police 2nd degree, fleeing or evading police 3rd degree, and operating a motor vehicle/MTCYC function without ignition interlock device.

Smith is lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.
