December report shares job opening numbers in south-central Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The December Open Jobs and Demand Report has released numbers for south-central Kentucky counties.

At the end of every month, JobsEQ gathers data from Chmura Economics to make a report that shows current future demand in the workforce for the 10-county region.

This includes Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson and Warren counties.

This month, the report states there are currently 8,356 total openings across all included counties, with the highest number being Warren County at 5,407.

Registered nurses is at the top spot for the most job postings at 651, the report states, while first-line supervisors of retail sales workers is at 348 postings.

In the next 10 years, the report says the region will need over 4,000 entry-level manufacturing workers and 1,702 registered nurses. South-central Kentucky is also going to see a demand for new engineers, including industrial engineers, mechanical engineers, civil engineers and electrical engineers, according to the report.
