Crews respond after lightning strike causes fire at Lake Barkley State Resort Park

CADIZ, Ky. – A fire reportedly broke out at Lake Barkley State Resort Park after a lightning strike Wednesday morning.

According to Lake Barkley State Resort Park, around 11:20 a.m., the park believes a lightning strike started a fire on the east side of the dining room roof.

The park states firefighters responded quickly and put the fire out from both the inside and outside of the building.

The park thanks a construction team with Pinnacle INC for quickly discovering the fire and responding to assist park staff and fire departments. It also thanks East Golden Pond Fire Department, Cadiz Fire Department, Trigg County EMS and everyone who responded and assisted at the scene.
