Could an indoor ice hockey rink and tennis courts be coming to Warren County?
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A potential ice hockey complex and indoor tennis facility is gaining momentum in Warren County.
At Thursday morning’s, Fiscal Court meeting, magistrates voted unanimously to approve a request for proposals from companies that perform feasibility studies.
Once a company is selected, the study will examine what an indoor ice hockey complex and an indoor tennis facility would mean to the county and address questions such as, how much it would cost and where it should be built.
Chris Kummer, the director of Warren County Parks and Recreation, believes the county would benefit economically if one or both of the facilities are constructed.
“I think with any new facility, with anything that is an additional quality of life enhancement, I think there is potential to generate revenue and to bring visitors and citizen users into those facilities,” said Kummer. “That will, in large part, be what that study is going to provide.”
Once a company is selected, it should take about six months for the information to be compiled. Kummer expects the study to be completed sometime next summer.
