Coronavirus impacting South Central Kentuckians

BOWLING GREEN, Ky-Just like technology has made it easier for news to travel quickly, modern air travel means people-and illness like the corona virus-can also move around the globe in a matter of hours and eventually, that’s what happened.

Terrill Martin, the director of the Confucious Institute-an educational outreach of the Chinese Government that works to foster cultural enrichment and educational exchange, says China is taking steps to contain the virus by instituting a quarantine on some travel.

Even with the increased safety measures, local travelers are still experiencing travel troubles. Some that were scheduled to travel as far off as the summer months have already cancelled their travel plans. Local college students who may be studying Chinese culture as part of their majors may find their curriculum has changed if they originally were scheduled to travel to China as part of their studies.
