Cooking class being offered for individuals with disabilities
A new program being offered by the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department is giving individuals with disabilities the chance to learn cooking skills, healthy recipes, and ways to prepare them for living independently. The program started at the beginning of the month and takes place every second and fourth Tuesday of the month starting at 10 am at the Kummer-Little rec center.
The class focuses on teaching people food safety, simple cooking skills, and techniques like how to safely and properly use kitchen knives. The class also teaches easy, healthy meals that they can make at home.
This program is the only one of its kind offered to special needs individuals in the Bowling Green community, which is part of the reason why coordinators for the class decided to create it
The class is open to anyone who wants to come in and participate.
It is free of charge to people who want to join in on the fun.
