Construction begins on U.S. 31-Bypass in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A portion of the U.S. 31-Bypass in Bowling Green will be closed for the next two weeks as construction crews continue work on a new Bowling Green Municipal Utilities’ water treatment facility.

The bypass will be shutdown from Park St. to State St. in both directions.

Detours have been posted in the area and direct motorists along Fairvew Ave. and E. Sixth Ave. as well as Kentucky St.

Officials are warning drivers to use caution when driving in the area.

“Lots of things going on in that area and it will certainly be a big impact on motorists,” said Wes Watt, public information officer with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3. “If motorists know this ahead of time they can plan their route accordingly and not get stuck in the traffic and not have to go the long way around. We just encourage motorists to understand that this is a big impact.”
