Congressman Guthrie visits 5th graders at Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary School

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Congressman Brett Guthrie stopped by Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary School in Bowling Green Friday morning.

The Republican spoke to 5th graders about the history of the United States government and the role it plays.

Guthrie also took questions from the students, many of whom seemed to know a lot about various current events, including the government shutdown, the Russia investigation and immigration. Guthrie said he was impressed by their knowledge.

“Sometimes you get groups that don’t follow the news as much, but there was a handful of them in here that really follow the news,” said Guthrie. “Some of them, with immigration, I assume it might be personal.”

Guthrie will remain in town throughout the holiday weekend and plans to attend some Martin Luther King Jr. events in Bowling Green on Monday.
