Company to bring largest North American facility to Glasgow, creating 400 new jobs

KINGSCOURT, Ireland – Gov. Andy Beshear is announcing a $61.2 million project coming to Glasgow, which is expected to bring 400 new full-time jobs to the area.
According to a release Wednesday, Beshear, along with leaders of Kingspan Group PLC, parent company of Tate, gathered at the company’s Ireland headquarters to confirm plans to locate Tate’s largest North American facility in Glasgow.
The $61.2 million project represents the largest job-creation announcement in Barren County in 18 years, officials say.
The manufacturing facility will be housed in a 764,000-square-foot building.
“We are thrilled that Tate plans to make Glasgow their New Kentucky Home with the largest job creation project we’ve seen in Barren County in almost 20 years,” Beshear said. “Kentucky has secured our place as a manufacturing leader with our skilled workforce and prime location, and companies across the globe are taking notice. I want to thank the leaders at Tate and Kingspan for choosing to invest in the commonwealth, and I look forward to seeing their success and future growth.”
State and local leaders in Barren County coordinated with company leadership to bring the new manufacturing operation to Glasgow, which will be the company’s first location in Kentucky.
Once it begins operations, the facility will create thermal management and airflow solutions made to optimize efficiency and reliability in data centers.
“We’re delighted to become part of the Glasgow community,” said Daniel Kennedy, Tate’s Global President of Cloud Solutions and Innovation. “Expanding our manufacturing capabilities in rural Kentucky reflects our commitment to expand our U.S. manufacturing footprint and the creation of high-quality jobs here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”
Founded in 1963 and headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, Tate is recognized globally as an innovator in the design and manufacture of critical data center infrastructure solutions, such as structural aisle containment including manifolds, structural ceiling solutions, as well as raised access floors.
According to officials, Tate employs over 1,800 employees across 21 facilities globally. The company, a subsidiary of Irish listed company Kingspan Group PLC, has a global footprint that includes 273 facilities and more than 27,000 employees across 80 countries.
Glasgow mayor Henry Royse welcomed the company’s commitment, stating, “This is a once-in-a-generation milestone for Glasgow. The creation of 400 new jobs marks the largest economic development investment in roughly two decades, and it speaks volumes about the strength of our community. Today, we celebrate not only new opportunities for our people but also a brighter future for generations to come. We are so grateful to Tate for choosing Glasgow.”
Barren County judge/executive Jamie Byrd noted the partnerships required to make this project possible, stating, “This historic announcement reinforces what we have always known – that Barren County is a place where businesses can thrive and people can prosper. Four hundred new jobs mean more families supported, more dreams realized, and a stronger foundation for our local economy. We are grateful to our partners who helped make this transformational investment a reality.”
Maureen Carpenter, president and CEO of the Barren County Economic Authority, said she looks forward to seeing the company grow with the community, “We’re thrilled to welcome Tate to Glasgow and truly appreciate their decision to invest in Barren County. This project brings 400 high-quality jobs, significant capital investment, and new energy to our growing industrial community. We look forward to partnering with the Tate team as they establish and expand their operations, creating lasting opportunities for our residents and strengthening our local economy.”
Tate’s investment and job creation build on the best five-year period for economic growth in state history.
Since the beginning of his administration, Beshear has announced more than 1,200 private-sector new-location and expansion projects totaling over $43 billion in announced investments, creating more than 63,200 jobs. This is the highest investment figure secured during the tenure of any governor in the commonwealth’s history and $18 billion more than the next highest total.
The robust job creation has been accompanied by rising wages across the commonwealth. Since 2022, the average incentivized hourly wage has topped $26 in three consecutive years for the first time.
