Community shows out for youth football team at Toy Bowl
BOWLING GREEN, Ky – Saturday Afternoon, one Bowling Green football team got the royal welcome of a lifetime.
The Warren County Youth Football League’s Toy Bowl game kicked off with a Sheriff’s escort.
Behind the blinking sirens, a parade of cars rolled into Bowling Green Junior High with horn honking and whooping filling the fall air.
“They were screaming through the windows, “said Vikings mother Stephanie Dorsey. “The cars are decorated and balloons hanging out the windows, and they just felt really special to be escorted. The Warren County Sheriff’s Department did that for us. It was really awesome.”
“I’m glad my team and other people are trying to support us,” said Vikings player Micah Pratt. “Feel great right now.”
“It’s been really cool, just waking up now you’re about to be in the Toy Bowl,” said Vikings player Carson Butt. “We’re gonna win.”
“It’s pretty cool,” said Vikings player Henry Phillips. “[Our strategy is to] hit em’ hard and be a tank.”
The community support didn’t end here. The boys of the fall took to the field ablaze in purple smoke bombs all running through a huge banner before game time.
The game ended with a narrow 16-14 victory Vikings.
The support these boys felt left them with no shortage of big dreams.
“We’re going to win the Super Bowl. No doubt about it,” said Pratt, confidently.
