Bowling Green Veterans Affairs holds first ever Community and Veterans Cares Expo

BOWLING GREEN, KY.- For the first time in Bowling Green Veteran Affairs held a Community and Veterans Cares Expo. This event helps caretakers, veterans, non-veterans by providing several resources.

“Events like this is great because it gives them the information they need to make a good decision later on in life or right now,” Stephen Buford Benefits division director said. “There’s a lot of information that a lot of the people in the community aren’t aware of.”

Not only will this knowledge help veterans right now it can also add to their lives.

“You know, when you need something, but you don’t know where to go to get it right,” Mark Bowman, an Executive Director said. “So when you can bring something, like you say, right outside the door in close proximity and make it available to them, it just helps them get what they already deserve and they’re eligible for.”

Making resources like adult services, veterans benefits, and so much more accessible can make a massive for so many lives.

“They don’t know of some of the benefits that they have,” Dr. Cilas Session an executive director said. “So that’s why we like things like this. And they could they could help them with their mental health. these are things we can do upstream to help them just extend their life and not just living so they can enjoy their lives.”

This won’t be the last expo, the next expo will be in Owensboro. The New veterans Center will open in October and will be ready to serve the Bowling Green community about 2 months after.
