Clarksville police investigating homicide death of Ft. Campbell soldier

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – On Sunday, Army Criminal Investigation Division agents notified the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) of the Clarksville Police Department of an investigation into the death of a Fort Campbell soldier.
Officials have confirmed the identity of the soldier to be Soldier, Pfc. Katia Duenas-Aguilar, 23 of Mesquite Texas. Duenas-Aguilar was a member of the division’s Combat Aviation Brigade.
The Clarksville Police Department responded to a call on Saturday, May 18 at approximately 8:33 pm to a residence located at the 900 block of Tiny Town Road. Officers located the body of Duenas-Aguilar. Following the initial investigation, Duenas-Aguilar’s death has been ruled a homicide.
“We are stunned by the death of Pfc. Duenas-Aguilar,” said Lt. Col. Tony Hoefler, spokesperson for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell. “In the meantime, we will continue to cooperate with Army and local investigative authorities on this matter.”
Pfc. Duenas-Aguilar began her military career in 218 as an Information Technology Specialist in 2018. She has been stationed at Fort Campbell since 2019.
Duenas-Aguilar was awarded two Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon for her service.
The investigation is ongoing.
