City’s longest running car show rolls into town
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Buick aficionados packed Beech Bend Park Thursday morning for the 40th annual GS Nationals.
Many people lined up to watch the Buick parade Thursday afternoon from Sloan Convention Center to the park. Thursday’s car show featured many, rare late 1960s and early 1970s car parts.
The Buick GS Nationals is Bowling Green’s longest running event. It is expected to bring many tourists to the city.
Don’t worry car fanatics – if you missed out, this event runs through the weekend.
This year’s GS Nationals will include the following activities:
- Thursday May 13: 10 a.m., Buick’s all day “Test and Tune” begins on the dragstrip along with the Swap Meet and “Buick’s Back Room” display of late 1960’s and early 1970’s rare factory performance parts.
- Friday, May 14: Buick’s official Car Show Day begins at 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Car show awards are presented later that afternoon. Throughout the day, the “Buick’s Back Room” display and Buick Swap continue.
After the car show judging is completed, more “Test and Tune” begins at 1 p.m. and continues until late afternoon. Later in the day consists of qualifying runs for various heads-up and bracket race classes. These include longest running premiere race class, the Super 16.
- Saturday, May 15: 10 a.m., All Day Race Class Eliminations begins and continues throughout the day. Buick’s Swap Meet also continues throughout the day.
